CheckIt is an extension that adds file hash generation and comparison tools to Firefox. It supports MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512, which are detected automatically.
I must confirm what m98432 said: it does not work with large files. It has a very good interface, it is a good idea, but the developer needs to refine the core of the addon. As an advice: why don't you rely directly on OpenSSL for the hash work? Sorry if i give 1 star only, but it is somehow "dangerous" to rely on a hash utility that actually […]
I attempted to verify the SHA1 of a ~5GB file. The addon froze Firefox for a time and then, rather than crashing or returning some type of error, reported (INCORRECTLY!) a non-matching checksum.
